About Me…

Hi there! My name is Pam Mooney, and I am likely the last person on Earth that you would expect to be a DBA. I know it was the last thing that I expected! If you could go back in time and tell 16 year-old me that instead of sighing over Sting, I’d be more starstruck by Ola Hallengren, I would have wondered if your spaceship had landed from Mars (not least of all because our school had just gotten its first computer lab and I had never heard of a database – much less of Ola – but I digress). The road to IT was a long and winding one for me, but I fell in love with SQL Server and knew that I wanted to be a DBA after my first database class in college. I was fortunate enough to be hired in as a Junior DBA straight out of school, and I have never looked back. I’m now a Senior DBA who loves to mentor and teach – as well as to continue to learn. A one-time, part-time professional musician and songwriter, I have a medical background and am a passionate history nerd. In my spare time, I like to hike, bike, read, go to the Ren Faire, write, and talk to you.
